Istanbul & Bosphorus Strait

Istanbul the most populous city in Turkey. Spence-consulate Istanbul is a chat sentimental city when the Bosphorus Strait running through it and that Street separates Asia and Europe apart that lies in each side that's called and known and Anatolia. It is commonly stated that this symbol is the oldest city in the world that is on two continents. But that is not sure there are many other transcontinental things the largest one though of course is Istanbul Turkey which is located in Asia and Europe.

Capital of Turkey

However, Istanbul isn't the capital of Turkey despite popular belief the capital of Turkey is really Ankara. In the Year 1923, the city of Ankara was to clear the capital of Turkey in place of Istanbul.

Longest Word in Turkish

Now the hardest part of the longest word in the Turkish language has 70 letters.
“Muvaffakiyetsizleştiricileştiriveremeyebileceklerimizdenmişsinizcesine”
 In English, it translates into “you're one of those who are not easily made into the maker of unsuccessful ones”. The translation is even as confusing as the word itself.

The Young Turks

So, question have you ever heard of The Young Turks?
The Young Turks was a political movement in the early nineteen hundred. The movement was made of student’s civil servants and army officers who fought to get rid of traces of the Ottoman Empire rule and replace it with a constitutional government. In the Revolution that followed the Young Turks helped to establish the second constitutional era in 1908. And that started multiparty democracy for the first time ever in the history of Turkey. This is before they became a republic.

Church of st. Peter
Now here we have the Church of st. Peter. This is located near Antakya or Antioch Turkey. It's composed of a cave carved into the mountainside on Mount Tereus. Many people believe that this cave was used by the very first Christians as well as is one of Christianity's first-ever churches. To this day it's still a huge tourist attraction.
Surnames
Until the introduction of sterling law in 1934 as part of Ataturk's reforms. Turkish people didn't have last names. The law requires citizens of Turkey to adopt an official surname. But before that, they did not have it in order that they were using their dad's name as a surname and that they would just add the word O which in Turkish translates into a son of are their name or they might use a nickname that was associated to their family and that they will put that before their birth date.

Now this next place blew my mind
Pamukkale
Pamukkale meaning cotton castle in Turkish. This is a natural site in southwestern Turkey which contains hot springs also as terraces of carbonate minerals left from flowing water. The the ancient city of Hierapolis was built on top of the white castle which is a total of 8860 feet long 1970 feet wide and 520 feet high.

Santa Claus
Another interesting fact about the land of Turkey involves Santa Claus. Saint Nicholas was actually born in the land of Turkey. He was born on the 15th of March in the year 270 in Patara which was part of the Roman Empire and Patara later was renamed to Arsenal. It was a very rich and commercial city located on the Mediterranean coasts of Turkey.

KIRKPINAR Oil Wrestling
What exactly is the national sport of Turkey? Oil wrestling is the national sport and yes oil wrestling is exactly what it sounds like big burly men wrestling covered in grease. As a matter of fact, the KIRKPINAR is an oil wrestling tournament started in the 1300s and it's the oldest continuously running sanctioned sporting competition in the world.

Food


 Now the food in Turkey is amazing. It's literally you cannot head home with food there everything is delicious. The service is amazing it's literally the simplest place to be at now if you would like to possess a perfect vacation for your family or maybe for yourself make sure to visit Turkey.
